Nearly 25,000 Left Without Electricity in Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Storms
Around 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast were left without power on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms impacted the area, bringing strong winds reaching 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Hailstones and Widespread Destruction
Homeowners witnessed giant hailstones measuring up to 7 centimeters in some areas. Weather authorities verified that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with significant hail.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units deployed to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victorian Climate Difficulties
At the same time, approximately one thousand households in Victoria also experienced power outages after the metropolitan area experienced its wettest day in over 500 days.
State Emergency Services responded to nearly 600 emergency reports across the area, mostly for property damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

- The Werribee area - recorded considerable storm damage
- Hoppers Crossing suburb - various assistance requests
- Wyndham region - 179 emergency requests
At one point on yesterday, in excess of 28,000 electricity consumers in Victoria were without power.
Meteorological Predictions
Moist weather were expected to linger along much of eastern Queensland this next several days as a atmospheric system continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
Tomorrow was forecast to be the most rainy day, with persistent severe weather risk expected across different parts of both regions.
Health Warning
Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the current weather patterns.
This caution comes after historical occurrences where comparable situations led to major medical consequences in the state.
